Ready, Set, Go - May 2024

Our May paper has all you need to know about our exciting new projects. We always welcome new recruits, and you can find out more on how to become a volunteer by looking at our Join Us page.

Community Kitchen

In Our Kitchen is back this summer!

One of our first projects as a charity is returning bigger and better than ever.

The Kitchen is an opportunity for vulnerable women in the Dorset community to come together and use their passion for food to feed the disadvantaged.

We’ve had such positive feedback from our volunteers who joined us last time.

“The energy we share in the sessions is amazing.”

“It has been really uplifting to work alongside other volunteers.”

Our projects are here to not only uplift women in the community, but also to create opportunities for people to volunteer with us and gain experience in leadership and teamwork.

Ready, Set, Go!

As the Olympic and Paralympic Games approach, so are the Inaralympics.

We want to bring the values of the games to our community in Dorset — excellence, respect, friendship, courage, determination, equality, and inspiration.

The sessions will include an opportunity for young women to learn new skills in self-defense, volleyball, and football.

At Inara Project, we value health in all forms which is why we’re excited for this project to promote physical fitness and the mental benefits that can be earned from playing sports.

We’re looking for volunteers to run the service, support the instructors, and to support attendees who have limited access to sports and fitness.

So if you fancy yourself to be sporty and would love to help out, get in touch with us!

Ramadan wrapped up!

We strived to give back as much as we could to the community during Ramadan.

We had a virtual social led by our brilliant head of Project Delivery, Nuzhath. The ladies had such a wonderful time doing activities together and getting competitive on quizzes.

Iftar with Inara was a huge success this year! We’re so grateful the women in the community love coming together to share food, stories, and make dua for each others well being. Can’t forget the delicious food and desserts!

Just before Eid, we held an Eid Card Crafting Workshop which saw so many families join. The cards were sent to loved ones, and it was such fun to see the children connect to their faith in a messy and creative way.

And finally, to round up the month, we celebrated Eid at a local restaurant. From meeting new friends, playing some games, and receiving gift bags — Eid-ul-Fitr was an unforgettable memory. Thanks to Al Balad restaurant for hosting with their delicious food.

Keeping up with our volunteers

“I’m so excited (and nervous) to be part of a once in a lifetime opportunity with Human Appeal’s Reach Team.”

One of our lovely volunteers Taznin is going away on a deployment trip to Lebanon to hand-deliver food packages and essentials to displaced families in need.

There are many families from Syria and Palestine who have had to seek refuge in camps in Quroun, Akkar, Beirut and Siada.

The donations make all the difference in being able to spread kindness and support to those who are heavily affected by conflict and displacement.

If you’d like to support and donate towards this project, please use the donation page. Every donation, no matter the size makes such a difference and lasting impact.

Donations page can be found here.

“I’ve not done this before but it’s an opportunity to see first hand how humanitarian aid is distributed and meet the beneficiaries,” Taznin said.

Volunteering for Inara Project

Over the past three years since we’ve begun as a non-profit charity organisation, so many Dorset local residents, and even people from further out, have volunteered with us.

Now, we have different departments where all our wonderful volunteers can work together to plan, budget, advertise, and create the projects and events we hold across the year.

From Sew Good to our Ramadan events, from our socials to our Refugee campaigns — we inspire to uplift everyone we can in the community.

“Inara showed me how an individual can have an impact on the community and how they can do big things with the right support and facilities.” ~ Volunteer

There’s something for everyone at Inara Project, and every form of support is admired by us from you.

And that’s why…

We Want You!

Inara Project is always looking for volunteers to join us. We’ve grown so much these past years and we’ve achieved unbelievable things.

From the community kitchen to being on TV and radio, there’s really nothing we can’t do!

We have different departments with each team dedicated to helping us grow as well as uplifting the community and providing leadership opportunities for young women.

Some of the roles available include:

  • Project Delivery Volunteer — ensuring the smooth running of our events

  • Video Editor — editing videos taken by volunteers for media purposes

  • Finance Volunteer — maintaining and balancing accounts, assisting in applications

  • HR developing connections with external bodies for our growth

There’s something for everyone here at Inara, so if you’re interested in finding out more about these roles, please get in touch with us!
