ABOUT US

We are a group of women who recognised a disconnect between the lack in provisions for the vulnerable in our local community and the power women have to support these groups. Through encouraging girls like us to get involved in charity work, and making a difference to the lives of those in need, we aim to create a fairer and more positive society. As the saying goes “you teach a woman, you teach a generation”. We hope that we can raise the future generation to be role-models for the next. As Muslims, we also recognised a lack of a space of our own to fulfil our religious obligations of charity whilst being an inclusive and welcoming network for all, no matter their religion or beliefs.

OUR VISION

We want to see women maximise their potential to make our communities a better and fairer place to live; for themselves, and also for those who can benefit from our service.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

We work to provide young women with volunteering and leadership opportunities in an effort to bring communities together and improve the lives of those in need through the implementation of Islamic values.

OUR VALUES

Faith - As Muslims, charity is central to our religion. Therefore our faith is our biggest motivation. This does not just relate to financial charity, but any act that intends to bring joy or ease for others. The Prophet Peace Be Upon Him said: “Your smile for your brother is a charity. Your removal of stones, thorns or bones from the paths of people is a charity. Your guidance of a person who is lost is a charity.” (Sahih Bukhari).

Empowerment - We want to enable more women to become leaders in every aspect of society, from their homes to the wider community. We want them to step up and be confident in asserting their thoughts and ideas and be an example to others to do the same.

Enrichment - Our activities are a way to develop necessary skills and passions, be it professional or social, therefore creating a sense of fulfilment for our volunteers in their efforts to nourish the lives of those who access our services.

Unity - We aim to bring like-minded young women together to achieve our collective goals. We also want to work with other organisations and build bridges within our local community.

MEET THE LEADS

  • Rajni

After experiencing the big city’s sense of community, returning home to Poole made me feel a disconnect between women and their potential to create local change. I hope Inara Project injects passion, motivation and confidence into our beloved women and girls, allowing them to thrive in every aspect of life with priorities in mental health, sustainability, spiritual development and leadership.

  • Nawshin

Having been born and brought up in Dorset I’ve always felt like an organisation like Inara was missing from our community. I want girls to have a network of peers that they can rely on and approach for help. As a pharmacist by day, I’d say I’m most excited to promote health and education services to those in need.

  • Nuzhath

I was inspired to join the Inara Project team because of the strong presence of ambitious women. I wanted to surround myself with ilke-minded individuals who are actively trying to bring change through exciting projects and help the community. I’ve enjoyed working with the team so far and can’t wait to see what the future brings.
